4月に開催予定だった Tokyo Cocktail 7 Days が期間も1ヵ月間に変更して10月1日から始まりました。
パスポートを手に入れて都内の参加バー70店舗がそれぞれ用意した4種のカクテルを、バーホッピングしながら楽しむことができるイベントです。

今回で4回目となるこのイベントにクワンも参加しています。
4つあるカクテルの中で1つご紹介いたします。

2013年に初めてロンドンへ行った時、現地に住む友人の案内でテムズ川沿いにある1000年の歴史をもつ食品市場、バラ・マーケットを散歩した後、屋台で売っていたソルト・ビーフ・サンドウィッチをベンチに座って食べた時の味や、マーケットからやってくるハーブや花の匂い、テムズ川にかかるロンドン・ブリッジの景色を思い返して作ったカクテルです。
その時食べたソルト・ビーフ・サンドウィッチは僕が注文すると、塩で煮た牛肉の大きなかたまりを煮汁から引き上げて適当な大きさに切ってくれ、ガーキン（きゅうりのピクルス）と牛肉をマスタードを塗ったパンで挟むというとてもシンプルなものでしたが、あまりの美味しさに感動した記憶があります。パンに入っていたフェンネルシードのアクセントも良かったです。
カクテルで使っている、バラ・マーケット・シロップというのは、ローズマリーやベイリーフ、ジュニパーベリーそしてフェンネルシードを水から煮出して（煮汁から引き上げられている牛肉のかたまりを思い返しながら）砂糖で甘味をつけた自家製シロップで名前もかってに付けたものです。
なかなか個人的な感傷に浸ったカクテルになってしまいましたが、今は行くことが少し難しいロンドンに想いを馳せてみるというのはいかがでしょうか。
その時、案内をしてくれた友人というのは、ロンドン在住のシンガー・ソング・ライターの cf!! です。
2年前にはクワンでも素晴らしいライヴを披露してくれました。
その彼がロックダウン中に作り上げた新曲『Naff Reality』が傑作です。手作りの MV もいい感じです。

Tokyo Cocktail 7 Days, originally scheduled to take place in April, has been moved to a month-long event that began on October 1.
With a passport, guests can enjoy four different cocktails prepared by 70 participating bars in Tokyo while bar-hopping.

On my first trip to London in 2013, a friend who lives there took me on a walk through the Borough Market, a 1,000-year-old food market on the banks of the Thames, and afterwards, I ate a salt beef sandwich from a stall, sitting on a bench, and the smell of the herbs and flowers coming from the market and I remember the view of London Bridge over the Thames. I made this cocktail in memory of all of them.
I had a salt beef sandwich, which I ordered, and it was very simple: chunks of beef cooked in salt, pulled out of the broth, cut into pieces, gherkins and beef sandwiched between two pieces of mustard bread, but I remember being impressed by how good it was. The fennel seed accents in the bread were also very nice.
One of the ingredients of the cocktail, called Borough Market Syrup, is a homemade syrup made from rosemary, bay leaf, juniper berry and fennel seed, sweetened with sugar and boiled from water, and that’s how it got its name.
It’s quite a personal, sentimental cocktail, but it’s a good way to get back to London, which is a bit difficult to visit at the moment.
My friend who was guiding me around was the London-based singer-songwriter cf!! , who also played at Qwang two years ago.
His new song “Naff Reality” is a masterpiece that he created during the lockdown. The handmade music video is a nice touch too.
